Cooking Raw Hot Links
For Best Results Bake in Conventional Oven at 300 degrees
Your Pittsburg Hot Links can be cooked in a conventional gas or electric oven following these simple instructions:
For best results use a 9 x 11 or larger aluminum pan according to the desired number of hot links to be cooked. Place a metal rack inside, above or across the pan to permit the grease to drain from the hot links in to the pan while cooking.
Preheat oven to 300 for even cooking. This temperature should not be exceeded due to possible grease spewing onto oven walls which would create smoke and possible fire. Cooking time is approximately 45 minutes for 2 dozen hot links on one side- then turn the hot links over and cook them for an additional 30 minutes.
After they have cooked for 1 hour and 15 minutes total, take them out of the oven and let them set for 3-5 minutes before puncturing the hot links.
Once they have drained, they are ready to serve.
Boiling, frying, or microwaving these hot links will give unsatisfactory results.
Pittsburg Hot Links may also be cooked on an outdoor gas grill or electric roaster provided the hot links are not allowed to rest in the grease while cooking. Set a medium or lower temperature. They can be cooked over charcoal or wood but not in direct contact with the flame.
To Reheat Cooked Links -
To reheat in a conventional oven, set at a low temperature. For microwave reheating, set at variable minutes depending on the amount of hot links to be reheated.
Enjoy your Pittsburg Hot Links and Happy Eating!
